“I wrote the song with two close friends, Joey Hyde and Aaron Eshuis. We were discussing the record, and by then, I had already decided to name it Golden Child. They asked about the song, but I hadn't actually written one with that title. It was just a lyric from ‘Blood from a Stone.’ We brainstormed ideas, and one of them came up with hooking it with “everything that glitters ain't golden child.” The song represents self-reflection and wisdom gained over my 37 years, a sort of letter to my younger self, sharing all the lessons I've learned and small bits of wisdom, like realizing that things we once wanted might lose their appeal once we get closer, or that easy money often comes with a high cost. To me, it feels like a song that perfectly captures the essence of this entire record. Collaborating with two of my best friends made it even more special. I believe it's a song that will endure over time.”
